MERVYN MITCHELL LBIPP – Photographic Artist

Mervyn worked in industry for over twenty-five years in the areas of Sales, Marketing and project management and achieved the post graduate ‘Diploma in Management’ before developing his artistic practice.

Over the past three years he has worked as the community engagement officer for the New Art Exchange, Nottingham, building their local links with community groups and organisations, which also included curating their Central Gallery as an exhibition space for local artists.

During this time he has also qualified as a member of the ‘British Institute of Professional Photography’ and produced photographic images and photofilm that are exhibited in the UK and Abroad.

Mervyn is a Director of ‘Nottingham Photographers' Hub studio & gallery ( htpp://www.nphub.org.uk ), which is a social enterprise company that works with community groups and vulnerable people using photography as a tool for visual creativity. He is also a founding member of a local photographic group " The Raw Collective" ( htpp://www.rawcollective.org.uk ) which organises group exhibitions and the "Art on the Square", old market square, Nottingham, which aims to bring local artists and their work, to local people in Nottingham who find it difficult to engage with Art through the local Art institutions.
